Henri Köhler, Managing Director: At Desmedt, we take a holistic approach to sustainability. It’s not just an ecological story, and it’s not only about us. It also concerns the impact of the labels we produce on our customers’ end products. We follow three key principles:
All of this makes Desmedt Labels better, faster, and greener.
We’re proud to announce that Desmedt Labels has once again been awarded a Gold Medal by EcoVadis, placing us in the top 5% of companies worldwide for our performance in sustainability, ethics, labor practices, and responsible sourcing. This recognition is more than just a badge — it reflects our continued commitment to building a better, more responsible future through everything we do. From the materials we choose to the way we collaborate with clients and partners, sustainability is at the heart of our business.
Tackling climate change requires action. At Desmedt, we are taking concrete steps: we’ve achieved the silver level of the Taking Climate Action label from CO2logic, validated by Vinçotte.
This label confirms that we annually calculate our CO₂ emissions according to the internationally recognized GHG Protocol, actively implement reduction measures, and invest in certified climate projects.
At Desmedt Labels, we are proud to announce that we have officially joined the United Nations Global Compact. This initiative is a global call to action for companies around the world to align their strategies and operations with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption. By doing so, we are not only committed to upholding these principles but also to actively supporting the broader goals of the United Nations, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As a signatory, Desmedt Labels is committed to annually submitting a "Communication on Progress" (COP) on the central website of the Global Compact. This report will outline the actions we have taken over the past year to support and promote the ten principles of the Global Compact.
Were committed to reducing our scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030, based on our 2020 levels. By doing this, we are setting a near-term science-based target of 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2030!
Targets are considered ‘science-based’ if they are in line with what the latest climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement – limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
Desmedt commits to reduce its total emissions by 42% in 2030 in comparison with 2020, and to use 100% renewable electricity by 2026.
Measures for Improvements:
